What were the police busy doing on Friday night the 7th of March until Saturday morning the 8th of March other than abusing their power or acting like arrogant pigs?
Luckily I decided against going out at the last minute, but quite a large number of fellow Maties of which some are friends and some are acquaintances, had quite a frightening experience when the police decided to raid Bohemia, Mystic Boer and Springbok for no apparent reason. From what I heard, students were thrown to the ground, those who asked questions got pepper spray in the face, police lifted up girls’ tops and skirts searching them while filming everything on camera, those who attempted to take photos had their cameras / phones confiscated (or even damaged) or got the police hitting them and intimidating them until the photos were deleted. Some were brutally manhandled for no apparent reason.
A few students reported seeing cops in BP laughing and mocking the whole scenario as if they enjoyed terrorizing the students. They’ve definitely picked the wrong crowd to mess with and they are going down, mess with one Matie and you have thousands of angry Maties gunning for you mobster style!!!
